Dr. Justin H. Tan

BEng, MD, MPH, FRCSC (REI)

Dr. Justin H. Tan is a board-certified reproductive endocrinologist at CReATe Fertility Centre with multidisciplinary training in engineering, epidemiology, medicine, reproductive endocrinology, and biostatistics. He received his bachelor’s degree in engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology followed by a Master’s in Epidemiology at the University of Cambridge. He earned his medical degree from McGill University, residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of British Columbia and subsequently completed formal sub-specialty fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Tan’s clinical and research interests focus on optimizing IVF outcomes, particularly in complex scenarios such as hyper-response, endometriosis-associated infertility, adenomyosis, recurrent pregnancy loss, and recurrent implantation failure. His training spans surgical gynecology, advanced ultrasound, and embryology-lab processes, allowing him to approach fertility care from a comprehensive clinical, procedural, and laboratory-informed perspective.

He has authored more than 40 scientific publications, contributed to 7 book chapters and key educational texts related to assisted reproductive technologies, and presented his work at more than 20 national and international conferences, including ASRM, ESHRE, CFAS, and ASPIRE. He is also committed to mentorship and academic leadership, having supported medical trainees and residents in research methodology, systematic reviews, and reproductive endocrinology.

Beyond his academic and clinical work, Dr. Tan brings an applied innovation lens to reproductive medicine. He previously co-founded Jintronix Inc., a medical-technology company that translated low-cost motion capture and virtual reality into clinically validated rehabilitation tools adopted by major rehabilitation hospitals. This experience in product development, clinical partnerships, and knowledge translation informs his current work in IVF, where he aims to connect careful measurement with pragmatic changes in clinical protocols that improve patient care. He is also passionate about developing and applying innovative reproductive technologies to improve access to fertility care, enhance patient outcomes, and support more inclusive models of family building. He has a special interest in third-party reproduction and advancing 2SLGBTQIA+ family-building rights.

As Director of Strategic Innovation at CReATe Fertility Centre, Dr. Tan leads clinic-wide initiatives that leverage technology, workflow redesign, clinical expertise, and data-driven systems to improve efficiency, safety, patient experience, and clinical outcomes. His work focuses on ensuring that innovation is not simply the adoption of new technology, but the thoughtful implementation of systems that improve reliability, enhance patient-centred care, and strengthen CReATe’s position as a leader in innovative fertility medicine.
