Dr. Anand Lakhani
MD, MSc, BEng, FRCSCDr. Lakhani’s clinical practice includes all areas of reproductive medicine, with special interests in third-party reproduction, male infertility, inclusive family building, and the intersection of mental health and fertility. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as well as a member of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada. He is fluent in English, Hindi, Urdu and Gujarati.
Dr. Anand Lakhani completed his undergraduate studies in Biochemical Engineering at Queen’s University, where he graduated as the gold medallist. He then earned his medical degree at the University of Toronto, where he received numerous awards including the Golden Stethoscope Award. During medical school, he was also awarded the prestigious LEAD scholarship, which allowed him to complete a Master’s degree in Systems Leadership and Innovation concurrently with his medical studies.
Dr. Lakhani’s international upbringing, engineering background and systems-based training have shaped a unique, multifaceted perspective which helped him excel in his medical career. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Toronto, graduating with multiple clinical, teaching and research honours, including the Residency Award for Excellence in Obstetrics, the JW Knox Ritchie Research Award and the Lee Adamson Award in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. He subsequently pursued additional training in advanced ultrasound and high-risk obstetrics before completing his fellowship in Gynecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Lakhani has published in multiple peer-reviewed journals, presented at national and international medical conferences, and received awards for his academic presentations.
While education, research and innovation are central to Dr. Lakhani’s work, his highest priority is providing compassionate, individualized patient care. Having personally navigated the complex journey of egg donation and surrogacy as a patient, Dr. Lakhani brings an intimate understanding of the emotional, logistical, and financial challenges that can accompany fertility treatment. This experience drives his commitment to being attentive, accessible, and a steady source of guidance and support throughout each patient’s unique journey. He believes that exemplary fertility care begins with understanding each patient’s values, goals, and lived experience, and then using that understanding to create an individualized treatment plan that is both evidence-based and personally meaningful.
