An Important Message from CReATe Fertility Centre’s Medical Director

A recent news release reported that a cryogenic tank owned by a Toronto fertility clinic malfunctioned and as a result of the malfunction, stored eggs and embryos were lost.

The makers of the storage tank involved in this malfunction released a recall notice listing the serial numbers of all potentially affected tanks. CReATe Fertility centre has confirmed that there are no storage tanks in our facility that were part of the recall.

As the Medical Director, I want to assure all CReATe patients with stored embryos, eggs or sperm that every possible measure has been implemented to prevent this type of incident from happening in our facility. Our storage tanks are monitored 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, by a monitoring system. Additionally, staff perform a regular manual check on liquid nitrogen levels as part of our Quality Assurance program.

CReATe Fertility Centre undergoes voluntary accreditation by Accreditation Canada. These quality control measures are part of our compliance requirements to be an accredited organization.
