Egg
donation is a treatment that may be an option for women who lack
ovaries, who have diminished ovarian function, or who have either
a genetic disease or a family history of genetic disease.
The
recipient is matched to the characteristics of an anonymous egg
donor.
The
recipient is required to take medication to synchronize her menstrual
cycle with that of the donor and to prepare the lining of recipients
uterus to receive the embryo in hopes of achieving a pregnancy.
