IVIG for Secondary Recurrent Miscarriage:
A Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT)

Study Doctor - Dr. C. Librach

We are conducting an international trial to determine whether interavenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), a drug used to treat many immune disorders, is effective in preventing pregnancy loss. IVIG is thought to suppress adverse maternal immunological responses to pregnancy in women with secondary recurrent miscarriage.
This study is being conducted through SWCH Fertility Centre and Create Program Inc. Other include the Women's Health Centre in Vancouver, (Co-ordinating Centre), University of Tennessee, University of Ottawa, Yale University and the University of Chicago.

Inclusion Criteria
1. Women between 18 and 44 years of age.
2. History of a successful pregnancy followed by at least three miscarriages, all conceived with the same partner.
3. Genetic, hormonal, anatomical & autoimmune factors associated with recurrent miscarriage have been ruled out.

This trial is supported by the Talecris Blood Partnership Fund, in association with the Canadian Blood Services. It is approved by Health Canada and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
