Advanced assisted reproductive technologies

Ovulation induction

Ovulation induction involves the controlled administration of fertility drugs that stimulate the ovary to produce a regular ovulation or multiple eggs, depending on the circumstances. Ultrasound scans and blood tests are usually undertaken cycle monitoring to ensure that 1) you are responding to the medications and 2) to time either intercourse or artificial insemination.

Artificial insemination

Artificial Insemination Is a technique involving the artificial insertion of sperm-containing semen from a male into a female uterus to cause pregnancy. There are two methods for AI: 1) Cervical insemination – for this technique, the sperm is placed in a cap that fits over the women’s cervix (opening to the womb).

In-vitro fertilization

IVF is a procedure in which a woman’s ova (eggs) are fertilized outside of her body. One IVF treatment cycle takes several weeks to complete. IVF can be a successful treatment for blocked or absent fallopian tubes, sperm abnormalities, endometriosis, problems with ovulation, egg donation, gestational surrogacy, or unexplained infertility.

Intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection

Intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is a microscopic procedure that involves the injection of a single sperm into a woman’s egg. ICSI may increase the rate of fertilization for some couples undergoing In-Vitro Fertilization. Couples in many situations may benefit from ICSI.

Laser-assisted hatching

The process of Assisted Hatching may be helpful in cases where a woman’s eggs have a thicker than normal Zona Pellucida, in older women (over 38 years of age) when the Zona Pellucida may harden, in women who have experienced repeated In-Vitro Fertilization failures, or when using thawed frozen embryos.

Embryo Vitrification

Depending on the number of embryos that were transferred to the uterus, this may leave a number of additional embryos. These embryos may be preserved by cryopreservation (freezing) so that they may be transferred into the uterus in a future treatment cycle.

Preimplantation genetic testing (PGS & PGD)

Pre-implantation genetic screening (PGS) is used to screen embryos for chromosomal abnormalities. These abnormalities increase as women get older. They can cause miscarriages, or abnormalities in children such as Down’s syndrome. Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) allows couples undergoing IVF for infertility to screen their embryos for a specific genetic disease that runs in their family.

AUGMENT treatment

The AUGMENT treatment is specifically designed to improve a patient’s egg health. Improved egg health may offer the potential for better IVF success rates*. It is a new approach to enhancing IVF that is designed for patients who want to use their eggs during IVF, but have compromised egg health due to poor egg quality, age or other reasons.

Female fertility diagnostic services

Female fertility diagnostic services include blood testing, ultrasound, sonohysterogram, hysterosalpingogram, office hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, and in-hospital hysteroscopy. It also includes basic fertility treatment, such as natural cycle monitoring, ovulation induction, and intrauterine insemination.

Male fertility diagnostic services include blood testing; semen testing; routine semen-analysis and computer-assisted semen-analysis; anti-sperm antibody testing; sperm function tests; sperm DNA fragmentation assay; fluorescence in situ hybridization; fertility preservation and sperm banking; and electro-ejaculation.

Other services

Fertility preservation

CReATe Fertility Centre is one of the most experienced clinics in the country at fertility preservation. Here at CReATe, we offer two options. With social egg freezing, the woman elects to freeze her eggs and defer childbearing for non-medical reasons, such as finding a partner or establishing a career. With cryopreservation for cancer patients, new technology lets your doctor remove and freeze some cells, tissues, or fertilized eggs (embryos) before treating your cancer.

Donation and surrogacy services

CReATe’s donation and surrogacy services include surrogacy ad gestational carriers, embryo donation, sperm donation, as well as egg donation, in which the eggs from the ovaries of a woman with normally functioning ovaries are retrieved. These donated eggs are then fertilized in a laboratory setting (in vitro fertilization) with sperm from the egg recipient’s partner.

Alternative therapies

Patients may find either acupuncture or massage therapy helpful. Acupuncture can optimize your chances of a successful and healthy pregnancy. For patients undergoing In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and Intra Uterine Insemination (IUI), acupuncture can help improve the outcome.
